Francine D’Antuono graduated from the University of Maryland in 1979 with a degree in fine art and applied design. She works professionally as a freelance graphic designer, illustrator, and fine artist.
She was born in the Washington DC metropolitan area. In 2015 she relocated to the Southern Appalachians of Western North Carolina with her husband, Rich Grenier. Together they built a truly unique home and relaunched
Fernwood Designs Art Studio and
Fernwood Designs Custom Woodworking.
Francine's graphic design career is mainly focused on design and illustration for retail products, exhibits, corporate branding, and packaging.
Her art can be found in gift shops nationwide.
In 2005, after reuniting to her childhood passion of horses and riding, she found inspiration in the equine world to return to her fine art roots. Her subject of horses resulted in a ten year side hustle of a traveling art show to equine events and trade shows. After relocating to the Blue Ridge Mountains,
she expanded her subjects to capture
the beauty of the native flora and fauna in the Appalachian region.
Francine's main painting medium is gouache (opaque watercolors) on 400 pound cotton watercolor paper. Her paintings are finished in two ways. Her large paintings are presented as a true watercolor painting, mated and framed under glass. Smaller pieces are mounted to cradled wood panels and finished with archival varnishes.
All of Francine's original paintings are framed in solid hardwoods, constructed by her husband in his wood shop tucked away in
the wooded mountainside on their property.
Representation inquires are welcome.
